On Monday, Donald Trump defended his supporters from attacks made by Hillary Clinton who had called half of his supporters a “basket of deplorables.” At the annual conference for the National Guard Association, the GOP nominee called on Clinton to apologize and retract her remarks.
“Hillary Clinton has not apologized to those she slandered. In fact, she hasn’t backed down at all. If Hillary Clinton will not retract her comments in full, I don’t see how she can credibly campaign any further” said Trump.
In response to the public frustration by Donald Trump, Clinton stated she felt “regret” and she was “grossly generalistic, and that’s never a good idea.” For the Trump campaign, Clinton’s outlandish statements have fueled marketing campaigns across key battleground states, including an ad hitting Clinton for “viciously demonizing hard working people.”
Trump also went on the record to argue that her comments showed her “sense of arrogance and entitlement” and “divides people into baskets as though they were objects, not human beings.”
